The Rimba
This book helps support many orangutan organisations, Orangutan Land Trus being one of them. We really appreciate Jane and Emma's support and wanted to share more about The Rimba.
About The Rimba
The Rimba is a moving and lyrical tale about the rainforest’s guardian spirit, a wise orangutan named Rimba, who rises to protect her home and the creatures within it, from the impacts of deforestation. Inspired by the timeless power of The Lorax, this blend of poetry and storytelling helps children discover the importance of kindness, cooperation, and action. With thoughtful insights and learning woven throughout, The Rimba shows that even the smallest voices can help protect Earth’s treasures.
About The Author & illustrator
Jane, the author, is a retired school teacher with a lifelong passion for literacy and education. Inspired by the plight of the orangutan and the devastating impacts of deforestation for palm oil, she wrote this book to raise awareness and spark curiosity in young readers. Using her skills in storytelling, literacy, and rhyme, Jane aims to engage children in meaningful ways, educating them about conservation, inspiring empathy, and nurturing the next generation of environmental stewards.

Emma, illustrator, is an Orangutanologist, an orangutan scientist who has spent years dedicated to saving orangutans both in the wild and through rehabilitation and reintroduction centres. Her scientific research has deepened our understanding of these incredible animals and helped inform practical conservation strategies. Having studied orangutans on both Borneo and Sumatra, Emma brings her expertise and passion to this book, creating illustrations that are as educational as they are engaging. This project is a heartfelt extension of her mission, designed to teach young readers about orangutans and raise funds, with all proceeds supporting orangutan conservation organisations.
